About Margaret

Margaret Bennett began working with people in their bodies in her twenties while dancing professionally in New York City—a place alive with intuitive, inventive, and deeply inquisitive movement practitioners. From the beginning, she trained with teachers who shared experiential knowledge and weren’t afraid to question conventional frameworks about how the body works. This spirit of curiosity and intelligent experimentation continues to shape her work today.

Margaret brings a blend of deep tools, proven practices, and a capacity for real-time invention. Some sessions follow established protocols; others require creating an entirely new way of giving input, organizing sensation, or restoring coherence in the system. Many clients ask when she’s writing her book! having experienced the results of approaching the body with openness, rigor, and creative problem-solving.

She trained in Contemporary Pilates at the Kane School of Core Integration—now Kinected—in NYC. She is an avid researcher whose work draws from rehab principles, vestibular and pelvic health, integral anatomy, trauma-informed modalities, primitive reflex integration, functional stability and hypermobility, energy medicine, consciousness studies, and feminist perspectives on power and embodiment.

Her formal studies include a BA in English and Dance from Connecticut College and an MFA in Sculpture from Yale University.

On a more personal note, Margaret has lived a richly varied creative life. She studied dance to the level of professional practice, made her own art for many years, and investigated how the body carries meaning, memory, and expression. She also studied visual art and in graduate school researched how matter and energy create form and structure.

She has navigated significant injuries—including one that shifted her professional dance path—as well as her own experiences of trauma, identity transformation, changing cities, changing bodies, and profound life transitions. These lived experiences give her a uniquely compassionate and respectful lens toward the people she works with, and the histories and brilliance carried in their bodies.
